The historic mining town of Guanajuato was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 and is one of the most visited places in Mexico.
The influence of Spanish culture can be seen throughout the old town, in its underground streets, alleys, temples, buildings, squares, and gardens.
Guanajuato is located in the heart of the State bearing the same name in central Mexico. It borders San Felipe to the north, Dolores Hidalgo to the east, Salamanca and Irapuato to the south and Silao and Leon to the west.
